The layout is a HO scale freelanced mid western railroad roughly based on the Chicago Great Western. The layout is approximately 30’ by 30’. It is designed as mainly as a switching layout. There are nine different switching areas not counting the yards.
The layout is set in the late 1960s before the CGW was bought out by the Chicago Northwestern. The bench work, track work are complete - only a few signals need to be wired and about 90% of the layout scenery is complete. The scenery is a combination of town and rural scenes. The control system is DCC.
I have also started an On30 layout under part of the main layout. The idea for the layout is roughly based on the Kansas Central narrow gauge. The bench work and track work are about complete. About 10% of this scenery is complete. The rolling stock still needs to be painted and decalled.
